The Process The process starts with drawing your design on a piece of paper. Once you have the drawing the way you want it you transfer it to the piece of linoleum block. You have to shade the area on the back of the piece of paper you want on the block. Press hard otherwise it will not show up as well. Next you start carving. You carve out anything you want to be white. Once you have carved out anything you want white you get the ink and the brayer and then print it. You do not need a lot of ink. When you carve away the 2nd time the parts you are carving away are going to stay the color you just printed with. Then you print with your second color. Make sure what you carve deep otherwise the ink will still cover it. Finally you label. When you label you put the number that the print is out of how many you did. You add your artist signature and the date. And you are done! | 1. I chose my design because thought the planet would show up good with the yellow spots and then the rest black. I thought doing a sky and stars design would turn out good with the black space background. I chose the design because when I was at camp you could see many stars and they were so bright. 2. I learned from printmaking that it takes sometimes many tries to get the right amount of ink right. 3. What I liked most about printmaking is when you ink and when you lift up the image is so cool and different every time in a little way. 4. What I liked the least about printmaking is that if you did not carve deep enough the ink would cover it and you would have to go back and crave and ink again. |
